At the commencement of each project, we hold a multi-disciplinary PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis) meeting with contributions from all key stakeholders.

We look at all aspects of a project – from inception to successful completion identifying any known or perceived risks throughout. We then incorporate the knowledge that we have gained from conducting Learning from Experience (LFE) exercises, which allows projects to run with upmost efficiency.

The outcome of the PFMEA is the basis from which we perform our high level project risk assessment. We identify areas where contingencies need to be incorporated into the project plan to enhance the streamlining of the manufacturing process. This allows us time to prepare in advance, counteracting perceived risks for all involved. Our aim is to deliver each project on time, following appropriate planning to produce world class products within the agreed budget.

Due to the scale of the projects that Goodwin International is involved in, we have developed a complete and comprehensive systematic approach to project risk management. This is just part of the value added service that comes with working with us.

Unless a project plan has solid foundations that incorporate all likely risks, it isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

Risk management requires the involvement of the entire project team and it is essential that the team understand the project baseline; the risks anticipated and plan mitigation strategies accordingly. This is why we have developed a complete and comprehensively systematic approach to project risk management.

We relish the opportunity to assist our clients in realising their vision through our planning capabilities. For complex projects, our planning software of choice is Primavera P6, which is Oracle based and is aligned with our Oracle mainframe. However, alternative software can be utilised to suit specific customer project requirements so that it can be directly fed into a customer’s master schedule.

Primavera 6 - Project Management

Oracle's Primavera P6 EPPM is a powerful, robust, and easy-to-use solution for prioritising, planning, managing and executing projects and portfolios of projects. Primavera P6 EPPM is an integrated project portfolio management solution comprising client/server and web based role-specific functionality to satisfy each team member's needs, responsibilities and skills. It provides a single repository database for managing projects of any size and complexity.

Seiki - Resource Management

A proprietary advanced manufacturing, capacity management and production planning tool that delivers customer satisfaction through accurate and transparent plans. Each activity associated with the manufacturing process of a component is broken down into individual operations. We then utilise Seiki to appropriately allocate time and resources for each project. Embedded within this system are all CNC machines, shop floor calendars, scheduled maintenance plans, operator shift patterns and booked holidays which are plotted against the live status of our existing order book. This allows for effective utilisation of our assets through scenario planning, capacity management and effective decision making.

Microsoft Project

Designed to assist project managers to developing project plans, assign resources to tasks, track progress, managing budgets and analyse workloads we use Microsoft Project across our organisation. This software enables us to manage projects from start to finish, allowing us to provide our customers with accurate lead times and pin-point scheduling.

Key Staff

Paul Downing

Paul joined us in1997 and is now a time served, experienced and skilled CNC machinist. Using his experience as a hands-on engineer, he now applies his vast technical knowledge to our planning process. Paul moved to our Estimating department in 2015 which sees him working collaboratively with a range of company departments, producing quotes for a variety of industry sectors including nuclear, defence and power generation.

  • Isolation Valve
  • Control Valve

The product range offered by Goodwin has now been extended to include a selection of high performance Axial Isolation and Control Valves.

Several years of Research, Design and Testing has been carried out to bring these products to market, with international patents pending for innovative design features.

Axial Isolation & Control Valves are used in highly demanding applications where tight shut off, high reliability, fast opening / closing and precise control are desired. Goodwin Axial Isolation & Control Valves represent a highly effective and cost efficient alternative to current designs available to the market.
